We spend a good deal of time optimising your web site to ensure you receive a good number of relevant visitors from the search engines. Because the vast majority of our clients prefer to write their own copy, virtually all of this effort goes in to the development of our CMS, and the design, functionality and information architecture (sorry for the jargon!) of your site.
This means that your web site takes the content you produce (copy, images, documents, links) and outperforms equivalent sites who spend a fortune on a monthly optimisation retainer for either their web development or specialist seo agency. I know, as 1 or 2 of our clients have had their £1500+/month seo agencies walk away when they realise they aren't really adding value.
So, when you write your content, you just need to bear a few things in mind and you will get much better "value" for your efforts. Once you're used to the way we work, I reckon it takes an extra 5-10 minutes per page as you write your content. Retrofitting can take a bit longer, but it's still well worth the time to achieve hundreds (or thousands!) of "free" visitors per month. And remember - you can see in Google Analytics exactly how many people reach you via natural search, and even how many of them convert (to buy, donate, join etc).
