Get Active platform launches at the CSP National Convention 06.03.11

The County Sports Partnership's National Convention sees the official launch of the Get Active platform, our complete solution to power user searches for sports, activities, events, venues, clubs and participation initiatives. 

For several years across many sports sites we have observed how real people search online for sporting opportunities, gaining an understanding both of real search behaviour and of organisations running and promoting sports. Developed initially for Pro-Active London, the Get Active platform distils this understanding to deliver a system that works well for everyone:

• Users find what they are looking for
• Organisations signpost people to their sports

Get Active is already being used by 6 County Sports Partnerships, 30 London boroughs and 1 National Governing Body.

Get Active is also designed to complement your existing web site - you don't have to be a Nemisys web client to use the system.

The core search functionality couldn't be simpler, focussing on location, activity and keyword.

Searchers can refine their results by many different criteria, including:

• Search radius
• Clubs, venues, activities and events
• Type and level of activity, from beginners through social to competitive and performance activities
• Age and gender
• Venue amenities
• Venue facilities
• Time of day and day of the week
• Disability support
• Club and venue accreditations and affiliations

It's likely that each organisation licensing Get Active will want to tailor the information held and search functionality to better reflect their own sports, any campaigns running and venue characteristics. We've planned ahead for this, making it easy to carry out bespoke developments for each new client joining the platform.

That sounds a little vague, so here is a list of current developments underway for new clients joining the Get Active platform:

• A mobile web version (for smartphones)
• Course listings - coaching, referees & umpires
• Online booking - tickets and courses
• Event administration
